Dear Pug lovers,

I am writing to you to tell you about the newest member of my family. His name is Jake and he is pictured above.  Jake was rescued by a wonderful organization in Los Angeles called Little Angels Pug Rescue.  Jake had been dumped in the desert outside of Orange County.  His eye was so badly infected that it had to be removed. He was suffering from malnutrition, hand an upper respiratory infection, an infection in his testicles, an epidermis staph infection and an infection in his ears which eventually left him deaf.  He weighed less than 10 pounds and was not expected to live.  Little Angels and the veterinarian that works with them never gave up on him and slowly nurtured him back to life. He was eventually healthy enough to attend one of  their adoption fairs that they hold each month. I happened to be at this fair and it was love at first sight.

Jake has been with us for 6 weeks now and is doing great.  He is only 4 years old and we are looking forward to a long and happy life together.  I have been a member of Pug Rescue by the Bay for some time now. Fortunately for use we have a very low rescue rate due to responsible breeders and owners.  It is a very different situation in L.A. There are an enormous amount of backyard breeders that sell Pugs for cash.  They end up being dumped or abandoned in shelters in numbers that are hard to believe.  The day I attended, there were 16 puts looking for homes.  It was very overwhelming and emotional for me to see that many dogs without homes, but to see that many Pugs was just too much.  The adoption policies for this group are extremely strict.  They have to be because they do not want these "little angels" to go through this again.  I was very impressed by their incredible devotion to these animals.  They are funded solely by donations.  I felt an obligation to Jake to tell as many people as I could about this group.  I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read Jake's story.  I am hoping that if enough Pug lovers know about this situation that there may be another "Jake" saved.  Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Letitia Frye & Jake
